While I was in the planning process of Avery’s tween bedroom makeover, I was contacted by LEDVANCE to try out their SYLVANIA LIGHTIFY products. They couldn’t have come at a better time. I knew I wanted to add a hanging light in her reading space but was having a hard time finding the perfect, and affordable light fixture. Once I realized how much fun we could have with these products, it made our lighting selection simple!
Since the Lightify A19 RGBW bulb has endless color possibilities, it made perfect sense to pair it with Ikea’s Knappa Pendant Light. A transparent white light fixture is the best way to maximize the lightbulb’s capabilities. And as I said in my last post, I swear I have plans to hide that awful cord! #visablecordsarelikevisiblepantylines
A Quick Overview
The Lightify products are comprised of tunable white bulbs, color changing bulbs, Flex Strips, recessed lighting and outdoor products connected to a wireless Gateway that syncs with your existing network. Technically, the set up should be very simple. Unfortunately, I had a router issue that made my set up a little arduous but the SYLVANIA LIGHTIFY staff worked with me to figure out the issue(s). Ultimately, it turned out to be an issue with my ISP (Internet Service Provider for you less tech savvy folks) provided router which was corrected once Bright House ran an update for me.
Once set up, the bulbs simply screw into any of your existing lamps or light fixtures and the strips plug into any wall outlet. You can manually turn the lights on and off in their free app from your phone or tablet, or program them to run on any schedule you choose. You can even turn lights on and off when you are away from home, which comes in handy if you want it to appear you are actually home…orrrr if someone else is home and you simply want to freak them out. Ahem.
You also control the colors, temperatures and brightness from the LIGHTIFY app. To be clear, you can still turn the lights on and off the traditional way with your existing light switches but the fun stuff is all done through the app.
We used the A19 RGBW bulb in the Ikea light fixture and the Flex Strips behind Avery’s headboard. My favorite thing about these products is that you can make them ANY color you choose. I would go nuts if I had to walk into her room to look at a permanent pink light!
We can make the lights all white for a classic look or any crazy colors that fit her current mood. #tweenmoodswingsaintnojoke
They have preset scenes that will rotate through a series of colors, which is Avery’s favorite option. She likes the “candy” setting because it cycles through nearly all the colors in her new room. This is just a screenshot of a handful of the many options they offer. They also have settings to better appoint your lighting based on waking up, going to sleep, working, relaxing, etc. You can even program the lights to come on at specific settings when you wake up and have them gradually increase in brightness. Genius.
Candy Scene
Here is a quick video I took (and sped up) to show you how the lights change in the Candy Scene.
And the still shots of the same candy scene…
My other favorite feature is the ability to take a picture of any object for the LIGHTIFY app to color match it to make your light bulb shine in that exact color! We were able to use Avery’s new rug for a perfect color match to add to her favorite color options.
As much as we love Avery’s new room, I truly feel like the fun and colorful lighting was the icing on the cake. Tweens seem to have a complete infatuation with lighting these days so it’s no surprise that she’s over the moon with these products!
I’m excited to incorporate a few of the other LIGHTIFY products into our home so that mama can play with her own lighting! I’ll update you when that happens, assuming I can break away from playtime long enough to actually write about it. 🙂

Can you tell me where you got the bedding?
Hi Desiree!
The bedding is from PB Teen but shortly after I purchased it, I saw a very similar version at Walmart. You can see the rest of the details at the original post on the actual makeover here: https://www.missfrugalfancypants.com/tween-bedroom-makeover/
Where did you get the circle shelf?
It’s from Target’s Pillowfort collection.
